Using Athletics to Cope provides licensed anger management and emotional regulation services for youth—combining movement-based therapy with behavioral health support.
Who We Serve
We provide trauma-informed, licensed behavioral health services for young people ages 12–18 in Kingsport and East Tennessee.
Outbursts, impulsivity, and difficulty managing strong emotions in school and at home.
Discipline issues, suspensions, or declining academic performance tied to emotional struggles.
Court referrals and youth at risk of deeper system involvement who need structured support.
Mood concerns, trauma responses, and withdrawal behaviors affecting daily functioning.
Youth who respond better to active, embodied coping strategies than traditional therapy alone.
Our Approach
A structured, trauma-informed program built around movement—so youth build real skills, not just sit in a chair.
Licensed clinicians work 1-on-1 with each youth to identify triggers, build self-control, and develop practical coping strategies.
Peer-based group settings where youth practice emotional regulation, communication, and conflict resolution together.
Athletic activity is integrated into therapy—stress drops, confidence rises, and minds open when young bodies move.
Youth are paired with mentors who listen and model healthy behavior—often for the first time in a young person's life.
Real Voices
My child finally has a place where they feel seen and supported. UAC is changing their confidence week by week.
UAC ParentMy son actually talks about his mentor to his friends. For a teenage boy, that says everything—you can tell he truly looks up to him.
UAC ParentBefore UAC I used to get mad fast. Now I know how to calm down and actually think before I react. My mentor really listens—that's something I never had before.
UAC YouthI used to feel like nobody understood what I was going through. At UAC I feel seen. I get to play sports, talk about stuff, and not feel judged.
UAC Youth"He didn't need punishment. He needed support. That realization shaped UAC—a commitment to ensure no young person is left without support during the moments that matter most."
